RankMyMusic Terms & Conditions

RankMyMusic is an independent music-ranking platform. You rate individual tracks, RankMyMusic calculates album and artist rankings, and you can compare and share your results. These Terms & Conditions govern your use of RankMyMusic. Please also review our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect and use your information.

You must be at least 13 years old to create a RankMyMusic account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement and are otherwise legally able to enter into these Terms. If you are under 18, you should use RankMyMusic with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

You can rank music without creating an account. Anonymous rankings are stored using your browser's local storage and a persistent device identifier. Clearing your browser storage may remove anonymous progress.

When you register, you provide accurate and complete information, including a valid email address and date of birth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under your account. You may not share your account credentials with others.

When you register or sign in, RankMyMusic attempts to merge eligible anonymous progress from your device into your account. While we strive to preserve your progress, we do not guarantee that all anonymous data can be successfully merged, particularly if browser storage has been cleared or modified.

Your rankings reflect your personal opinions and taste. Community rankings are aggregated from user ratings and do not constitute official, statistically representative, or authoritative charts. Rankings are not endorsements by artists, record labels, or any third party.

Album scores are calculated from your individual track ratings and, where you have provided one, your Overall Album Rating for the album as a complete work (10% of the score, with your track-rating average making up the remaining 90%). Artist rankings are derived from your completed album rankings. Ties may be resolved through preference ordering for meaningful positions (such as Top 3 albums or Top 5 tracks). We may update ranking calculations and methodologies from time to time.

RankMyMusic focuses on canonical studio albums. Catalog metadata — including artist names, album titles, tracklists, release dates, and cover art — may be sourced from third-party data providers and open data projects. This metadata may be incomplete, inaccurate, duplicated, or subject to correction. We may add, remove, or modify catalog entries at our discretion.

When catalog entries are corrected, merged, or removed, your existing rankings may be affected. We make reasonable efforts to preserve rankings during catalog corrections, but we do not guarantee that rankings can always be preserved where a catalog identity cannot be reliably reconciled.

Community features include community rankings, Community Match, leaderboards, and aggregated insights. Community data is generated from user ratings and may be labeled as "Early community data" when insufficient ratings exist.

Registered users may have a public RankMyMusic profile displaying music-related information such as nickname, completed artists and albums, achievements, Contribution Points, and pinned favorites. Public profile content may be visible to other users and indexed by search engines. You are responsible for the content you choose to make public.

Leaderboards display top contributors based on Contribution Points and activity. Registered users can opt out of public leaderboard visibility in Settings. Opting out does not remove your rankings, history, or achievements from your account.

You can share your rankings, results, and profile. Shared content is accessible via public links and may be viewed by anyone, including people without a RankMyMusic account. You are responsible for what you choose to share.

Challenges allow you to invite someone to rank the same album or artist and compare results. Challenges are blind by design — the challenger's ranking is hidden until the recipient completes their ranking. Challenge results are for entertainment and comparison purposes only.

Contribution Points and achievements reward meaningful participation. They have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for money or goods. We may adjust, correct, or revoke Contribution Points and achievements in cases of abuse, bugs, or system errors.

Registered users may use Listen While You Rank, which plays official Apple Music content via the embedded player. Playback availability is controlled by Apple and may vary by region, device, and account status. Listening is a convenience feature and does not make RankMyMusic a streaming service.

Third-party services, including Apple Music, provide playback and other features. These services remain under the ownership and control of their respective providers. RankMyMusic is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Spotify, or any other third-party music service.

RankMyMusic, including its design, features, and original content, is owned by RankMyMusic and protected by intellectual property laws. Catalog metadata may be sourced from open data projects under their respective licenses.

Music, artwork, artist names, album titles, and other third-party content accessible through RankMyMusic remain the property of their respective owners. RankMyMusic does not claim ownership of third-party musical works or artwork. Where playback is available, it is provided through official licensed channels (such as Apple Music embeds).

By submitting ratings, rankings, and other content to RankMyMusic, you grant RankMyMusic a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, reproduce, and process that content solely as necessary to operate and provide RankMyMusic. You represent that you have the right to submit the content you provide.

You may not submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or that infringes the rights of others. You may not impersonate another person or submit content you do not have the right to submit.

You may not:

• use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access RankMyMusic
• create fake or multiple accounts to manipulate rankings
• manipulate Contribution Points, community rankings, or leaderboards
• bypass rate limits or security measures
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to RankMyMusic systems or data
• exploit vulnerabilities for any purpose

You may request that we add artists or suggest improvements. We have no obligation to act on requests or suggestions, and we retain editorial control over catalog selection and all product decisions.

RankMyMusic may display advertising. Advertising helps support the service. Registered users see fewer ads. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements. You can control advertising through your Cookie settings.

RankMyMusic is currently free. However, we do not guarantee that all current features will remain free forever. We may introduce paid features, subscriptions, or premium tiers in the future. Core ranking will not be paywalled without notice.

RankMyMusic is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service or any features at any time without notice.

Some features may be in beta or experimental stages and may change, be limited, or be removed. We may add, modify, or remove features as the product evolves.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is infallible. Data loss may occur due to technical failures, bugs, or other issues. We encourage you to register to ensure your progress is saved to your account. We are not liable for data loss to the extent permitted by law.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abuse, manipulation, or prohibited conduct, or for security, legal, or operational reasons. We may also take action to reverse fraudulent activity.

You may stop using RankMyMusic at any time. If you have an account, you can request its deletion by contacting contact@rankmymusic.com.

If you believe content on RankMyMusic infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact contact@rankmymusic.com with a description of the allegedly infringing content and your contact information. We will review and address valid complaints.

RankMyMusic may link to or integrate with third-party websites and services. These third parties have their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

RankMyMusic may provide links to third-party retailers or marketplaces. Some of these links may be affiliate links, meaning RankMyMusic may receive a commission or other compensation from qualifying purchases made through those links.

Any purchase you make through a third-party link is a transaction between you and that third-party merchant. RankMyMusic is not the seller of any product unless explicitly stated otherwise.

RankMyMusic does not control or guarantee third-party pricing, stock, availability, delivery, taxes, returns, refunds, warranties, product quality, merchant policies, or customer support. Third-party purchases are governed by the merchant's own terms and privacy policies, which you should review before purchasing.

RankMyMusic is not responsible for merchant-site availability or changes to products or offers. The presence of a product or link does not imply endorsement by the relevant artist, record label, rights holder, or any other third party unless explicitly stated.

RankMyMusic is provided "as is" and "as available" to the maximum extent permitted by law. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RankMyMusic's total liability for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or your use of RankMyMusic shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid directly to RankMyMusic during the twelve months preceding the claim; or (b) USD $100 (or local equivalent). This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

You agree to indemnify and hold RankMyMusic harmless from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of RankMyMusic, or your infringement of third-party rights, to the extent permitted by law.

These Terms do not exclude or limit any mandatory consumer rights you may have under applicable law in your home jurisdiction.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict of laws principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of RankMyMusic shall be resolved in the competent courts of Israel, subject to any mandatory local jurisdictional rules in your home jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from bringing a claim in your local jurisdiction where you have mandatory consumer rights.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue RankMyMusic or any part of it at any time. We are not liable to you for any such changes.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated via the service or by email where appropriate. Continued use of RankMyMusic after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

Our failure to enforce a right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and RankMyMusic regarding the service.
