How RankMyMusic works
Pick an artist, rate every track, build your personal rankings, and see how your taste compares with the community.
1.Choose an artist
Search for an artist and open their page. You'll see their studio albums and can start with any album you like.
2.Rate an album
Rate every track from 1 to 5 stars. You need to rate all rankable tracks to complete the album, but you can always come back and change your ratings later. Where available, registered users can also listen to tracks while ranking.
3.Build your album ranking
Your star ratings automatically create your personal ranking. If there's a tie that affects the Top 3, we'll ask you to decide the order. If the Top 3 is already clear, there's nothing extra to do. Ties below the Top 3 can remain.
4.Complete an artist
Keep moving from album to album. Once you complete all required albums by an artist, the artist is complete. As you go, RankMyMusic builds your personal album ranking and your personal track ranking across the artist's catalog. If ties remain in your Top Albums or Top Tracks, you can Fine-tune the final order afterward — it's optional.
5.Compare with the community
Once you've ranked music, you can compare your results with the community. See community album rankings, community track rankings, where your own picks sit, and your Community Match.
6.Share and challenge
Your rankings are made to be shared. Share your results, challenge friends, and compare who really knows the artist best.
7.Listening while ranking
Registered users can play supported tracks directly inside RankMyMusic using Apple Music playback. If playback isn't available for a track, the Play button will appear unavailable.
8.Your progress
You can start ranking before creating an account. Your progress is saved as you go, and when you sign in it should merge into your account so you can continue where you left off. Registered users also get access to additional benefits such as listening while ranking and fewer ads.
