Run-D.M.C. is the Hollis, Queens hip-hop group formed by Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Jason Mizell, known as Run, D.M.C., and Jam Master Jay. Their forceful, stripped-back sound and tightly coordinated call-and-response rapping helped bring rap to a wider audience. The group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
