Avicii’s three studio albums show Tim Bergling expanding electronic dance music into a song-oriented pop format. True made acoustic guitar, country and folk colors part of bright, festival-scale EDM; Stories continued to draw on outside genres while using a larger range of writers and singers. Released after his death, TIM is a posthumous collection completed by collaborators from material he had left in progress, so its sequencing and production carry a different authorship context. The albums are interesting to compare for how melody and guest vocals sit against the rising synth builds that define his dance productions, and for how the final record balances memorial intent with unfinished work.
