Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper’s catalog spans two related but distinct careers: the original Alice Cooper band’s late-1960s and early-1970s blend of garage rock, hard rock and horror theater, and the singer’s later solo work. Across both, a theatrical character, dark humor and sharp hooks connect records that otherwise move through psychedelic experimentation, conceptual hard rock, new wave, pop metal, industrial textures and stripped-back garage rock. The solo albums often shift with the production styles of their moment, while returning to Cooper’s knack for macabre storytelling and stage-ready choruses. Ranking the catalog means deciding how much to value the original group’s collective energy, the ambitious solo concepts, or the stylistic turns that kept the music changing.
