Trail of Tears

Released in 1996, Trail of Tears is Billy Ray Cyrus’s fourth studio album and his follow-up to Storm in the Heartland. The country record combines Cyrus’s original songs—including the title track, “Truth Is I Lied” and “Three Little Words”—with covers of Merle Haggard’s “Sing Me Back Home,” Tom T. Hall’s “Harper Valley P.T.A.” and J.J. Cale’s “Crazy Mama.” Cyrus and Terry Shelton produced the album.
